When I went to school that worked out at £750
I was about to mock him myself but I think he means its £750 minus the £200 for the bills means the TV is worth £550This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Cheers guys interesting discussion! Basically for an update, they are trying it on. They've gone from its worth nothing to ok well we will give you half what you're asking.
To answer all your questions, the people who bought the tv pressured for the big screen television, so as not to cause a rift (Ironic now) she agreed.
The fair value is 200/300 quid and I Would argue that 50 pound is worth while venture especially out of principle
Finally they didn't sort out bills every month each bill responsibility was split evenly throughout the year the intial down payment just covered a small amount of set up bills (around 50 quid about a tenna each)
Not planning on sueing them obviously that wasn't what I set out to do. I just wondered as with some famous case laws (I did abit at uni) about syndicate responsibilities to each other etc there was any well documented/known legal fact, that I could reference.
p.s. loving the maths fail banter (I am now an accountant)0 -
They (the five of them) each paid one hundred and fifty pounds, that's five hundred and fifty pounds.
As others have already pointed out 5x150 = 750 but thats a read herring, it reads to me as
The individual (1) + 4 other housemates (5) paid someone (6) £150.
£900 to buy a TV plus initial bills.0
