Ebooks - Reselling / Copyright

A friend of mine has a large collection of e-books which she would like to sell on EBay. None of the ebooks have anything in the text which says anything about copyright, resale rights, etc. I believe that they are business manuals which she bought a while back.
What she wants to do is put the ebooks onto CDs (with professionally printed covers and cases) and sell them on EBay. Personally I think there's no money in these things but she's intent on giving it a go anyway!!
Would anyone be able to advise on whether there are any copyright or reselling laws preventing her from doing this?
