Am just wondering how you are all doing managing your accounts online. I am sorely tempted to set up my account into an online account, but the hastle i seem to be having with Scottish Power lately, i dont know whether its worth the extra stress.

I persoanlly have most of my accounts setup onle, and so far have had no hassle.
The best thing about manageing your energy online is meter readings.
I used to work for TXU, and the single most headache we had, were meter reading problems.
With an online accout you can put in your meter readings as many times as you like, thus keeping your account up to date eliminating/reducing the risk of a !!!!!! up. ;D0 -
Yeah, it sounds brilliant if it works, but !!!!!! if it goes pearshaped. If they have looked into a few problems i have had with my accounts to my satisfaction, i will sign up.
Thanks for replying Steve.0 -
More similar woes:
I have unfortunately just changed over to Scottish Power, well that is so far only for my gas. Since I made that fateful decision I have experienced a whole load of incompetence and mis-representation. I am just writing to Energywatch to complain.
I signed-up on internet for dual fuel internet-based account maintenance, with monthly billing, solely because compared to my previous suppliers that would have saved me money. What followed was like a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. The rates they originally quoted me have now been said by them to be increased 4 times so far before I finally have been transferred.
Then they told me that I could not have dual fuel which I had applied for until the electricity was transferred later. In the meantime I would not get the dual fuel discount. Then it transpired that they had transferred me for gas on the basis of quarterly payment in arrears at a higher charge rate than quoted. When I queried this they said I would have to change this myself on-line. This I did, registering and going through the whole nauseous process again with its system malfunctions. It took me about an hour after many separate attempts as it continually crashed out.
Imagine my surprise when I then received an e-mail informing me that the registration had been cancelled because I did not have dual fuel. BUT THAT IS WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR.
The whole charade is unbelievable. I am now paying more for my gas than I was with my previous supplier!!! So the moral seems to be beware of transferring to Scottish Power. The same could well happen to you.0 -
I have recently changed from Scotish Power to London Electricity. Since then I have been contacted four times by different Scottish Power staff asking why I had changed. This is nothing short of harrassment.0

First they told me i owed too much so i struggled to pay off my debt at £95 a month for both utilities - even though my MrJudi told me they were taking us for a ride. Then they send me a letter saying i was in credit by £500!!!! Apparently they were charging me for a time i wasnt actually with them. The best of it is, they wont give it me back. They have told me the money will carry over, but the thing that gets my goat, is that during the summer months i hardly use much in the way of gas and electricity. So they will still owe me in 12 months time!!!! If they dont give me my cash i am going elsewhere..... well i might do it anyway, the only thing holding me back is the fact i like online billing.0

Surely if you switch supplier, then HAVE to give it back, just as you would have to pay them if you switched. A definite switch on the cards if it was me. There are other companies that do the online billing, and you can always switch back them later if you wanted to. Get your money off them, cos as you have found it, they dont like it when you owe them - and even that was a mistake on their part.
Im with SP, and only intend to be until I get my meter swapped to a standard rate meter next week, then Im moving. They say I am £80 underpaid but I want proof from them first before paying it. Only been with them 6 months.
