A further thought. Do you have critical illness cover thru your mortgage or on any endowment plan you may have? My DH recently stumbled on a booklet for an endowment plan he took out and we still have when he bought a property before we met and we are currently going thu the process to see if he can claim as he had Cancer few years back. I know when I read his booklet that brain tumour is something mentioned.0

ACAS are the supervising employment body for the Equality and Human Rights Commission. ACAS are not useless; if you have experienced a poor service you should make a complaint rather than dismissing the whole organisation. Furthermore, ACAS can guide you and signpost you to a necessary organisation local to you. ACAS would undoubtedly advise you to talk with your employer first, followed by a written grievance if necessary. An organisation who needs to be reminded that it is unlawful to discriminate against someone with a disability (especially one who is directly discriminating) has serious problems.Don't thank me, thank my post :T

Generally PHI policies it will list specific diseases or state than any tumours must be cancerous but this is of course subject to the policy terms and conditions which would need to be checked. It may also be possible to claim early retirement if you have a private pension. Though this is subject to age and the impact the brain tumour has i.e. what level of work your OH can do.Don't thank me, thank my post :T

I already make sure we don't overspend on our bills and have good tariffs. We don't have PHI for him b/c this is the third recurrence. We have been through brain surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy (which you can only have once on the brain), and now chemotherapy. We also wrote to the CEO of the company but received no reply. We still won't qualify for child tax credits as my income puts us over due to the new thresholds. Our only option is to contact the mortgage company I guess. I hope it won't affect our credit rating.0

If a claimant has none, then no DLA will be paid, regardless of the name of the illness.
What type of brain tumour is it?
not quite true,if the illness is terminal then you qualify under "special rules"which speeds up the application as well0 -

You could post an SOA on the Debt Free wannabee board, often it does take outside eyes to see where savings can be made.0

would be a good time to reevaluate your life.
can you afford yoour mortgage or do you need to sell?
how much you spend on other things as mentioned.
do this before you are forced to, last year we lost our home due to illness and the fact we had been struggling on for yreas.
i say lost , but not having that around our neck and debt was the best thing we did. we also had to go bankcrupt.
so before things get too critical think it through now.
as being ill there is enough to think about nevermind spending the next 2 years as we did filling in form,s, claiming etc, etc,
fortunaltely mine wasn't this severe, but we are nver on a guaranteed path and life does change.
made us realise we had been paying a house mrotage and deposit for years and could finally see the benefit of renting and only paying that. we also get hb whereas before with our own home we could not get anything.
best wishes.0
