Redundancy for a Part-time worker

My wife is being offered redundancy after 25 years service. She currently works part-time - 2 days a week ( 14 hours ) for the last 10 years, however worked full time prior to this. Her current office location is closing down and she has been offered re-location but due to the time and distance this is not an option so she has decided to take the offer of redunancy. She will qualify for the statutory entitlement of 20.5 weeks. We would like some advice re benefits. We have savings of over 6k so she will not qualify for Income based JSA, however would she be entitled to contributions based JSA and if so from when and how long would she be entitled to this ?

As far as we are aware she has been full NI for the last 25 years. Any advice or information would be really appreciated.

If she's been earning at least £102 a week for the last few years then she'll be able to claim contributions based JSA. She can claim this for upto 6 months.
I'm not sure when she can claim it from though I'd have thought from the time she's no longer working for her current employer and looking for a new job,

As far as I'm aware, if sheleaves on a Friday, she claims from the Monday.

I was made redundant in September after working 25 years for the same company, full time then 3 days a week for 2 years, then 2 days a week for a few months, tell her its not so bad, I really dont miss it at all, I was just 61 so collected my state pension. The only thing I miss is my salary going into my bank every month lol
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I thought NI was only paid after 16 hours, no matter how much you earn?

Thanks for the replies - does it have any bearing if you are looking for part time or full time employment when applying for contribution based JSA ?

The only thing that has a bearing is the NI contributions as far as I'm aware.
