Just switch my vaio laptop on and the text was blured and difficult to read the screen was flickering purple red blue and then really flickering bad for a while, so I rebooted and now no flickering but the screen is gone very purple including the text Pluged it in to tv via hdmi and its fine.Any idea whats failed just wondered If its worth trying a repair

Sounds like it could be a problem with the video cable that connects the screen to the motherboard.

stoped flickering now but text is not that readable seems to have sections of each word missing so you may be right will look at the cable0

or, the screen or the video chip may be on the way if the cable's okay. Screen = easy and relatively cheap, video chip = bad
Can you connect the lappy to an extrnal monitor ??? If you can and the display is okay, then video chip is ok, it's screen or cable.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
