Hi All,
Have any of you tried selling things on Gumtree? I keep weighing up the pro's and con's of ebay and the fees just dont seem worth the hassle.

I'm living so far beyond my income that we may almost be said to be living apart.

Gumtree is good, but it has a limited reach, i.e the local area. Having said that everything I have ever put on Gumtree has sold. Just be careful of the scammers who want you to post, there are a lot of scammers about. keep it face to face and you will be ok.0

I sold a playstation 3 bundle on there recently. Didn't want to take the risk of posting and/or potential scammers so opted to sell for collection only. It went within 3 days and only just below the asking price.0

I seem to have more luck with preloved. Free to sell on there and you can add a picture too.The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

I've never managed to sell anything on gumtree - listed a few things and only ever had scammers reply. Had much more success with preloved - it's easy to use and I've sold most of the things I've put on there. I like the 'make me an offer' feature too.
Not had any success with selling clothes on there but done well with camera equipment particularly.£2012 in 2012 member #15: £651.55/£20120 -
I had never heard of preloved before now. Thanks all - think I will try both. Its for bulky collection items. Lets get selling!!I'm living so far beyond my income that we may almost be said to be living apart.

Just to add I usually list bulky things on adtrader and gumtree at the same time and usually they sell from one or the other (although it might take a few weeks). Luckily I haven't had any scammers so far, just a few timewasters. I've also been surprised by how many people turn up to view the item then make an offer as I'd expect them to agree the price before coming if they weren't happy with what I was asking, so be ready to haggle. Good luck!0

I recently sold a pushchair on Gumtree and got the asking price. It took about a week, but I had another pushchair that I had on for about 4weeks and eventually sold through eBay and I have still got a car seat on there and I listed that about 8wks ago.Born and bred in Manchester (proud of it)
Now living on the other side of the Pennines0 -
If you don't like eBay try https://www.bumblebuy.net, at the top there is a sell tab and I'm selling reasonable (not as much as ebay, but OK) amounts on there0
