...if anyone has any extras to add to my last post please do so. Im looking for any help/info.

...and personally I have done pretty much the same as you - although I did tell the agent about our credit rating so that it wouldn't come as a shock when they did the check.
If I were in your position, I would phone the agent first thing in the morning and ask them where they're up to with it, i.e. you were expecting to hear back from them by now and you're wondering what the delay is. If they say something about your credit rating, then go with the tack of, "I'm aware of that, that's why i've provided you with references, a guarantor and offered to pay x months of rent up front. Is this an acceptable arrangement to the landlord?" If they haven't done the credit check yet, I would tell them what they will find.
Personally I think you've been more than reasonable - as have we!! - but at the end of the day, it's the landlord's choice who they want to rent their property to. If they don't want to let it to you, there's nothing you can do, however unreasonable they might be being.0 -
I called the estate agents on saturday. The girl i have been dealing with was on her day off so i spoke with another girl. I asked if everything was ok as I hadnt heard from them. She said that from what she could see from the history on her pc, everything looked fine and that they are just waiting for confirmation in writing from the landlord to say he agrees to give me a 12 month lease instead of the six and also to say I am able to keep my cat.
So far so good.
I called again today to ask if i could find out what furniture would be left as I will be looking to purchase my own things in the next few weeks. I need to know if the sofa will be left as i will use it until I get my own. I also asked about storage of the landlords furniture if I didnt want to use his. Again, the agent said everything was fine and still awaiting confirmation in writing from the landlord.
The agent phoned me back and said she had contacted referencing and left a message for them to send a copy of an inventory. Im still waiting.
Although the agents have been very helpful everytime ive contacted them, i feel like im the one doing the running around. Ive had no courtesy calls or nothing from them since the day i put my deposit down. Even just to say that everything is going to plan would be nice.
I have no experience with estate agents so dont really no what to expect from them. Am I expecting too much? With regards to my credit checks, well thats a mystery because I know they have done them but how on earth they can accept me on what they've found is beyond me.
Anyway i'll stop complaining.
thats the update so far0 -
In my experience, the majority of letting agents are crap! They don't return calls, don't respond to emails and rarely keep you informed of what's going on. There's always the exception to the rule of course....
I'm not sure there's a lot else you can do considering the efforts you've already made. Have you heard anything else since your last post?
Regarding the credit check - maybe they haven't actually done one? It wouldn't be the first time a company said they were going to do something and then didn't. Or am I being too cynical?!
