Easy and reliable prepaid credit card.

Which card would you choose if you were looking for:

Prepaid.
UK use only.
No need for overdraw/credit.
Predominantly used for payment to companies you have not dealt with yet.
MUST HAVE an easy refund policy with purchases that are not as described/not fit for purpose/not delivered at all.
Balance on the card rarely under £100, rarely over £300. The only reason I want a credit card, is for the purchase protection/insurance.

Most prepaid cards don't have section 75 protection.
If you look 3/4 of the way down this page in this link http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases
you will see a section headed How to get protection without a card
which details the exceptions i.e the cashplus card - although this isn't legally as strong as section 75 protection.

Is there a particular reason you want a prepaid card rather than a normal credit card?

Yes, I neither want nor need credit and simply don't want to run the risk of forgetting to pay the bill before due date and get clobbered with extortionate costs. It is too easily done when you have very busy times, which is exactly what cc companies count on.

As the protection element is important to you if you go for a cashplus card I'd suggest getting more details from the provider of exactly how the protection works and what it covers. The article only mentions similar protection and thats its not legally binding.
I know a lot of people find they have to press quite hard to get a credit card company to pay up under section 75 and many people have to resort to reminding the cards companies of their legal obligations. For that reason personally I'd be worried about relying on something that doesn't have legal backup.

If I was particularly worried about the places I was trading with I'd want full section 75 protection from a credit card - can't you just set up a DD to pay the bill in full each month? therefore being certain your won't incur any interest charges never mind any extortionate costs.
