You've reminded me to look into doing this for dd. did charl3s stanl3y take care of the transfer? Dd has a trust fund but they had stopped it by the time DS was born. She has a much bigger nest egg than him which will hopefully balance out as the years go by.

Hey Cath, yes they did - I just opened the account online and downloaded a transfer form - just had to fill in some basic details and then post it back. They took care of the rest. I've been super impressed with their service so far and their website is fantastic. Thumbs up from me !

The pumpkin collection seems to be growing, just as well I have a huge window sill for them all to sit on. DS1 came back from Scouts with one last night and DS2 is at a friends doing a pumpkin this morning, so is sure to bring it home with him.

Cupcakes and butter icing are all ready and waiting for the children to do later. And, my lemon meringue pie is baked and looking lovely, finding it hard to resist.

Popped a soup in the slow cooker earlier - it doesn't actually take that long to cook on the hob, but I quite enjoy chucking everything in the slow cooker and then just letting it do its magic for the rest of the day. Going to have it later with crusty bread. More than enough to feed the 4 adults and very likely to have leftovers.

Think i shall have some reheated corned beef has from the other day for lunch :)

Miserable raining day here, but feeling very contented and happy. In fact, the rain is just making it feel extra cosy indoors.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

That's the kind of cooking that will soon reduce the food bill!

This bit of your post made me smile. I love those days where you feel so content and it often doesn't need much to trigger it.

Thanks for info, I might get it posted off this weekend so switchover happens whilst we are away. It's frightening what sum of money our children may need to get off to a good start. I did it with no childhood savings but hope to be in the position to help mine in some way.

Well, what a lovely weekend, although it did go by far too quickly....

And, the weather! How beautiful was it??!! Absolutely glorious, felt more like Spring :)

So, the total supermarket spends for October finished at 759. Ouch. Lets see what we can achieve for November. Surely, it can only improve?

I'm so cross with myself.... My house insurance renewal arrived earlier, so I decided to use TopCashback for the first time and have taken a policy out with J0hn Lewi8. I'm happy with the policy and happy with the fact that I'm also making some savings compared to my renewal, but I wished I' checked with Quidc0 first as their cutback was higher!! Oh well, teaches me a lesson, I need to check around first between the two of them before taking a purchase plunge.

Some of the fund purchases have now gone through on DS2's JISA... just waiting now for the vanguard purchases to go through and it'll all be sorted.

Now have the change of ownership forms from L&G for DS1's CFT - it was registered in DH's name, so need to switch it to mine. Must remind him to complete the forms.

Apart from the supermarket spends (which we're working on) our spends have been pretty good for the last few weeks. My sister and her brood came to stay this weekend and I don't think any of us spent a penny :)
All activities were at no cost and we still all had a wonderful time. Actually, just realised that we spend a few quid on parking at the country park, but I can live with that.

My CC now lives in the top drawer of my office and doesn't leave the house. It's literally used for online Christmas shopping purchases and things like paying for the house insurance. I find it's best to keep it out of my purse as it makes me think twice about popping in a shop if we're out and about.... (realising that I can't actually buy anything!).

Oh, we had a mare yesterday. DS1 left his iPhone (my old 5s) in his jeans pocket when he took his clothes off and I washed it. I was quite mad at him as he always dumps his stuff without a care in the world, but also a bit annoyed with myself for not realising it was in the pocket. Then again, I never check pockets - people need to remember to empty them.

Needless to say, I only realised it was in there when I emptied the clothes out and it was wet and knackered.

It's now in a tub of rice in pieces but I really hold no hope whatsoever. He will need to make do with an old iPhone we have kicking about until he can save to replace it, because I'm certainly not replacing it for him. not only does he need to realise the value, but he needs to stop dumping his stuff everywhere.

all that said, I did feel sorry for him when he was sobbing and saying sorry :(
  • its so frustrating. I feel your pain.
Not as expensive but dd2 "lost" one of her shopping bags on Friday. We didn't realise till got home. Only £11 but still cross as it felt so wasteful.

We have a glimmer of hope.... the phone has been in rice for two days.... DH had taken it apart to allow for better drying. He popped it all back together again this morning and we plugged in my portable charger, and - it's actually charging! The battery sign has changed colour and the phone seems to think its Thursday 1st January, so there are still lots of potential issues, but maybe it might work?
We're leaving it to fully charge in aeroplane mode and then will pop the sim in this afternoon to see what happens. EEeekkkk.

Sorry about SS2's lost bag, that's a pain. Lewis lost his PE bag a week after he started secondary school, however it was full of PE kit - brand new football boots, socks, shorts and football top. Another instance where I could have throttled him. Kids!!!!

Oh dear, a little bit of spending today.... Ordered new Winter coats for the boys from Ga9. They've had their current coats for 2 Winters (also from Ga6). So, have just ordered the new versions of them. I was waiting for an offer, and today (until the end of the week) they have 25% off full price items. Also, something like 10% cutback via Topcashback. Free delivery too. Could do without the spends, but their current coats are far too small.

Phone seems to be working still... long may it continue.

Chill from the freezer last night for dinner, was yum. Might go for some soup tonight (from the freezer).

Very wet and miserable outside this morning, sitting at my desk wearing several jumpers to keep warm. I feel the cold!!
