Popped in to town earlier.... Picked up some new clothes for the boys in marks and spencer, 30% discount! excellent! Remembered we needed some crackers for Christmas Day - 50% discount.

Hi Diary & MFW'ers!
I can't believe how long it has been since I posted. Nearly 5 months, wow!
I really haven't anything exciting at all to report:
-Still live in the same house
-Haven't bought a B2L yet - but really need to get our backsides in to gear
-Still spend too much
-Still saving, but not as much as we should, see above
-We went skiing last month, cost too much, see the two points above
I'm at a stage where I feel that I've not got any clear direction in what I actually want to achieve on the financial side of things:
- Would like to pay mortgage off - but want to do B2L - can't do both
-Would like to buy a more expensive house - problematic, see above
-If we stay here and don't move - I'd like to improve the house, again, see points above
I'm just totally confused with everything and I guess that's why i haven't posted for 5 months!!!
Work is going well, business is good thankfully. DH left his current job and is now doing some work for us on a part time basis. Going fine so far, plus he's working on a new business idea for us which might generate some additional revenue - assuming he stays focused.
The children are happy and healthy, so I'm thankful for that.
Hope everyone is well - if anyone has some amazing financial advice or would like to motivate me, please let me know!!

It's lovely to see you posting Lula, we thought that you had fallen off the edge of the world
No awesome financial advice from me. More general advice would be just to pick one of your goals and work towards it as hard as you can. If it's not the right goal, you'll quickly find out and change your mind
We all need goals, even if we're not sure which is best.0 -

I think you've got goals without really having a clear objective in mind. Why do you want to pay the mortgage off? Why do you want a BTL? Why do you want a more expensive house? Why do you want to improve? Which is most urgent/important? If you can get some clarity on those it may help you. For example, if you want a bigger house because it's a good investment then maybe a btl would be just as good. But if it's because you want more room then maybe that is more important than an investment? Why do you want to pay off the mortgage? Because you're on here and think you should?Or because it's part of a long term strategy to retire at 50 - in which case a bigger house contradicts that etc.
Basically - where do you want to be financially in 10/25/30 years time? What would you need to do to get there? How much of that are you prepared to actually do? Start with that and work backwards and that may help.
Good to see you back :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
