Hi, hope i'm posting in the correct forum!?
I recently ordered a tv for my son from currys online, I got an email a couple of days later to say that a company called Yodel would be delivering my item. Last Wednesday I decided to go online to track my order only to find out it had been delivered the previous evening at 16.46 and signed for by someone with my surname. The house was empty at the time, my eldest son was at work, I was at a friends house with my younger children and my husband was also at work. I phoned currys to let them know and they put in a complaint to DHL/ Yodel and were told that the driver had obtained a signature but I can prove 100% it is not mine or any other member of my household. The driver later came round and addmitted he left the parcel by my bins and told a 5 year old girl who lives accross the road to tell me what he'd done when I returned! He never even put a note through my door to tell me where he left it. The tv was no longer behind my bins by this time as it was over 24 hour later, I can only assume it was stollen. Currys have been ok and have now sent me a denial of reciept form to sign so they can send me out a replacement but my question is shhould I contact the police regarding this matter. I'm not accusing the driver of theft but he did forge my signature, surely this is illegal? Please any addvice would be helpfull.

it depends if you want the driver to lose his job for signing for a parcel and leaving a TV behind the bins. If you report it to the police it probably won't be fraud as he hasn't forged your signature he's just signed it as somebody with your surname. To forge your signature he'd have to try and copy it to make it look authentic.
so if you don't think he's stolen it and you're happy for him to lose his job from making a stupid mistake... then phone the police.0

Would this not be seen as a sackable offence anyway? When I spoke to currys they said they had given instructions to Yodel if no-one was at home another delivery date was supposed to be arranged. Because of the value it was not supposed to be left anywhere other than my house and signed for by someone at my address!0

It probably is a sackable offence. I know you're annoyed - do you really want to push things so far as to insist he/she is sacked? Especially as you're not going to be out of pocket and Currys will send a replacement?
PS - please don't centre-align your posts; they are very difficult to read - especially as you don't paragraph and all I see is a wall of text.0

it would more than likely be a disciplinary offence but whether he gets sacked is up to DHL, although i don't think he's commited a criminal offence unless he's stolen it.0

Sorry bod. I don't want to push for him to lose his job and I am annoyed because there is no guarentee I will recieve replacement before christmas as a full investigation needs to be carried out by both companies and I can't afford to order a new one just in case.0
