Dear all that could possibly help?
I am new to this forum but am forced to come here for help as have spent many hours trying to find information all over the web.
Years ago we took out a mortgage with the Black & White Mortgage company, which we know went in to liquidation. They seem to have been taken over by Bright Grey, and since (as we are with the same people) it seems to me Mortgages PLC.
I have managed to find somewhere that the Woolwich is in there somewhere...
Does anyone know 1, if we can claim anything back from a company that has been liquidated and 2, where would we start?
I am guessing a call to the Financial Ombudsman but not 100%
I was hoping there may be others on here that may know so I can do this myself rather than through a company that will take something of anything we are due?
Many thanks,
Craig

Bright Grey are an insurance company. Not a lender. Effectively, they are the protection arm of Royal London for products distributed via IFAs. I am not aware they have bought any lending book. I havent found anything on google and I would be surprised if Royal London used the Bright Grey brand for buying a mortgage book.Does anyone know 1, if we can claim anything back from a company that has been liquidated
What is it you are attempting to reclaim?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

We are hoping to reclaim the PPI that we paid to them.
On the paperwork from them the title says 're mortgage and payment protection insurance policy number....'
Just with the company being liquidated I am unsure if we are able to claim anything back from them.
Thanks for your help and with coming back so quickly..0 -
Did you pay the insurance as a single premium (added to mortgage) or by monthly payment from your account? (single is bad - easy complaint. Monthly is good - set up correctly)
Is it Bright Grey that are providing the insurance? (if yes, then this means it is probably life assurance, critical illness cover and income protection - combination of all or some - you will need a mis-sale reason if it is)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I am not totally 100% sure who provides the insurance.
There seems to also be a company called Assurant Solutions in the mix also! I think we are best filling out the PPI claimant forms on this site and sending to as many as we can! It is getting far too complicated the more and more I look at it.
All I know is that when we took out the mortgage with Black & White, their salesman insisted that we take out their PPI.0 -
same problem b.and.white were selling for the woolwich iv tried to reclaim through ppi reclaim companys but they all came up with nothing.0

Black and White, as the intermediary, would have been responsible for the sale. Two companies have traded under that name but neither any longer exists.
Because of this, FOS will not be able to help.
If the sale took place on or after 14 January 2005, the FSCS might award redress - but only if it is persuaded that it is more likely than not that a missale occurred.
So the first question is when did you take it out and the second is why do you think you were missold to?0
