Help on Tenancy Deposit

I've just moved home and awaiting my deposit back, I moved on the 31st Oct and am owed £650 by the landlord - And I need every penny. He has just contacted me to say that he will be taking some of the deposit as he wasn't happy with the overall cleanliness of the kitchen, there was a leak in the bathroom that has affected the wallpaper downstairs. I just assumed it was damp as that has been a problem for us at the property.

I have now asked him 4 times for the Tenancy Deposit Scheme details which he hasn't been able to supply - I've checked on the website to see if one has been registered and it hasn't. Also we have never seen a gas safe certificate or had a check in 18 months.

My question really is what should I do? Who do I contact to get the ball rolling with the TDS and will it cost me anything?

If I report him for the gas safe thing what will happen, I'm a live and let live type of person and don't really want to be to harsh to him. He has 3 other properties that he probably hasn't had checked either.

Thanks for any advice!
