House prices surge......

Thats you of my crimbo card list then lad.
Boss says who wants go to x job for x money and free digs, i say ill go. The boss aint paying for the digs as its priced into the job.
The crash started in 2009 and is still going on today and will still be going on tomorrow.
I already have cash on the hip but wont be buying yet as house prices are still falling.
You seem ever so desperate to convince people to buy a house ASAP.
It seems to me like you could be in serious financial difficulties if you have to come on the internet to try and convince a lad from the northwest into buying a cheap terrace ASAP.
Are you also having trouble keeping up the repayments on your wife:)
Wife is fully paid up, thanks.
When you get a Girlfriend you will understand more about life and stuff .... but, first, you need to show you have a place of your own - it's a thing women look for see?
A masculine male who has his own place - saying you live in the bosses cellar will not win any kisses I'm afraid.
So, not only will you own your own place if you buy now - you will attract a mate!!

How very Victorian in attitude and rather condescending
I have 3 years left on my mortgage which I took out over 12 years on a house worth circa £350k and I own outright a terrace that I rent out worth approx £120k ..... I am female and 47.
Personally I have chosen men for their personality, intellect and not for what they own and I am sure I am not alone.Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

Ooooops, I didn't mean to upset the feminists amongst us ........ but, I'm sure that a man living on his own wits and funding himself is MUCH more appealing than one sponging off someone else?

It is your opinion and certainly is not a fact ...... only time will tell.
Certainly ... but, as time is vital in buying versus renting, then only the past can be taken as gospel.
And that shows, quite clearly, that 2009 was the bottom.
How long do you wait before you can say 2009 was NOT the bottom? 1 week? 1 month? 1 year? 10 years? 100 years? Maybe at the moment values fall below 2009 ...... if that ever happens again.
Nah ..... 2009 will not be repeated - we were all terrified then, we are used to the state of affairs now ... the economic situation is now factored-in.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -

I responded to the posts in series.
I then came upon your post where you had answered the points I raised.
I'm not going to read a whole thread and then go back to the posts I want to respond to.
You either live on a site (Is it like Auf Wiedersein Pet?) or at home with your parents.
Nothing wrong with that, many have to do so.
I do wonder whether you will be able to buy for cash and settle in one place if the builders provide accomodation because they can't get local contractors
Lived on site plenty of times, basically the same as living in a house once the first one is built.
Lived in digs.
Live with my parents whenever im home.
Lowest price wins the contract, doesnt matter where the contractors are based. I cant see how this would affect me buying a house where i intend to buy a house.0 -

I am not a feminist by any stretch I just hate generalisations as to suggest a stereotype.
If you are referring to Jimmy, (in relation to your original post) he comes across as a hard working lad in a difficult industry. He of course stays in digs when working away, no different than my company paying my hotel and flight if I go away on business?
Sponging ...not really, just using his head as he combines that with stopping at his mums when he is back (with her approval no doubt) and does away with the expense of having to rent a place he would hardly see.
Afterall I seem to recall a post or two from yourself saying rent money is wasted money.... he is saving the money he would have 'wasted' on rent to save for a (mortgage free) house ......... seems sensible to meDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

Oh come on, how am i supposed to save up for a house plus get a deposit together for a wife as well.
Ive never said i live in my bosses cellar to any of the ladies i meet. I have been asked by a few where do i live, so i say on a building site or with my mam. This then usually leads to them asking what i drive, and i usually respond with, ice cream van, mountain bike, bus, or a brown vauxhall nova. Then i walk away.
My method of finding a mate has resulted in me finding a few nice girls in my time, your method of being the alpha male in the pub telling all the ladies that you have a portfolio of buy to lets, and you also moved out of your mums house when you were 11 to stand on your own 2 feet has resulted in you buying a wife.
Im sticking with my method:)0 -
