Yes. They did the same yesterday with the Veg book, too - reduced from £8 to £6.50 (still as DOTD) in the course of the day.

Sorry to sound dim but can I play blu-ray in any dvd player and just get the normal picture. Other half wants the star wars set but can't find it except blu-ray?

No, you can't. Blu-ray discs will only work in a blu-ray player.
