Water overflowing into header tank - but from where ?

My electric only house immersion heater blew and I wanted to replace it with an instant water heater. So I plumbed it in, as I have done in a few other properties without incident, and it was fine for a couple of days. However, today, an overflow / expansion vent from the old immersion heater suddenly started dripping…

I might have an answer.

I get the feeling (from sounds) that some hot water is being drawn by the kitchen mixer tap. Yet this has it's own cold at mains pressure so I discounted it initially. Perhaps it backs up to the other mains cold inlet underground outside the house ????

If fitting a NRV at this outlet does not resolve the matter I'll get someone in.
