Scottish Power not refunding credit

After switching my gas and electric to EDF from Scottish Power in August 2011 I have awaited my credit refund of c £150 from Scottish Power. Nothing was forthcoming so I rang Scottish Power and they apologised saying they didn't know what had gone wrong and would send the refund by cheque.
I alerted my brother who had also changed over in August and he said he had to ring recently for his c £350 refund, getting the same apology.
What happens, I wonder, if you forget and don't chase your money?

They would keep it I assume?

I had the same when I switched from NPower a few years ago. An easy profit for them, and a simple apology if you chase them, "oh the computer must be playing up today"

Same happened with me icon9.gif I can't believe that employees could be involved in such an official fraud, too easy for them to go spilling the beans to [STRIKE]News of the World[/STRIKE] The Wail :)

  • They "forgot" one of my refunds too (though I did get the electricity one). On the one I did get refunded they "accidentally" charged a cancellation charge. What's even more spooky is how refunds can only be done by cheque - which is funny because a proportion of people never get around to banking a cheque and SP gets to keep the money. Yet, somehow they can do everything by direct debit and bank transfer when they are getting money off you!!
