iPad magazine subscriptions

Does anyone know how to get cheap magazine subscriptions on iPad?
The current subscription prices on newsstand seem very expensive, you can get paper subscriptions cheaper but id rather e subscribe if I can get it cheap.

If you subscribe to The Guardian for 6 or 7 days a week you get the electronic edition free, so maybe other newspapers and magazines do this too?

Perhaps because Apple get 30% of the take. Some magazines give you a free iXXd version with their paper versions and many give 30% off the real news-stand price and you get it a week before everyone else. If you have an iPad why create a fuss on the price of the sub. Google has their own version of "Newsstand" and it is not very well known(one Pass) nor probably not very popular but they take only a 10% cut however the rest of the world seems obsessed with iPad/iphone

you can get the metro for free through newsstand, and you can always visit the websites of said publications.
