safe deposit boxes

Not sure if this is the right place, but Barclays are closing down their safe deposit boxes. Does anyone have any idea where I can get another one somewhere that a) is secure and reliable, and b) doesn't cost a fortune?

I'm in the north west if that helps.

I would be interested in this too. I had always thought(mistakenly apparently) that all banks provided a safety deposit box facility.

Just as a matter of interest, what do you put in safe deposit boxes these days? For your information, this purely of interest, I don't want to know where it is stored and what box number!

I know someone who stores their house deeds in a safety deposit box. I told them its not really worth doing anymore as the land registry database is all the proof you need, but it makes them feel safer.
