Hi All,
Now i`m not to sure if im allowed to post this on here, but i thought it was worth a go.
The company i work for has been supporting Get Connected for as long as i can remember, and each year a select few get the opportunity to go on a once in a lifetime expedition and really give something back to people who really rely on this support. Below is a direct link to my page where you can donate to Get Connected and get me a little closer to my £3000 target to be able to go on this trip, which happens in less than 5 months.
Below is also some info about why i am doing this and also how your money will be used. :-)
Now, before i start asking for you to donate, let me just take a minute to explain why i am doing this; For as long as i can remember, i have always wanted to get involved with a charity and try and raise some money to help others, and for some reason, i have always had a voice in my head saying someone else will do it. Now, this particular event i am raising money for, i have no reason for choosing this over any of the thousands of events all over the world, apart from having kids. now, that might sound weird, but reading and seeing what this trip is aiming to achive touched my heart, and made me think how overjoyed i would be, seeing a complete stranger come to where i live and offer to help give my children a safe and fun place to learn and thrive, and give them a the opportunity of a future every child deserves.
Now, whether you can donate a few pennies or a few pounds, as my gran says, every little helps, so please do. :-)
Abit about the expedition:
So, by raising the £3000, i will be able to go over to africa for a 10 day expedition, going to the Aberdale Ranges Primary School, which provides education to help the neediest children break out of the poverty cycle. By 2017, its expected that 1080 students will attend the school. Currently, each of the 360 students receives two hot meals a day, and for most of the students, this is the only food they eat all day. the aim of this project is to ensure that the provision of these meals are sustainable as the number of students attending the school increases. At age 5, children are registered at the school and given a 1 metre square plot of garden to take charge of and will work in the garden as part of the horticultural and social studies curriculum. in total, we aim to create 1080 metres squared of garden beds (or 40-50 beds). time permitting we will also help plant an orchard of fruit trees to add to the food productivity at the school.
Please donate anything you can, whether it is pennies or pounds, every little will help!
Thanks in advance,
James
