photo printing

Getting the trouble something to do while she is on her maternity leave. We had a specific samsung photo printer that broke after 5 pictures but it is out of warranty (we bought it about 5 years ago but never used it until last month!). It seems silly to pay for a "photo printer" when you can do the same with a normal printer that i can also use for home computing needs or am i missing something?

Any advice on the cheapest / best ones.....i'm also conscious on the price of inks so this needs to be taken into account. I am currently looking at canon pixma printers.....any good?

Look forward to replies

I'd be wary about buying from best buy atm as CPW have just announced that they are closing down all their stores

If you are printing a few photos then yes, do them at home on an inkjet printer. But if you have a lot to print it will be very time consuming and expensive. If you collect 150 or 200 pics together on a CD or USB drive and take them to Jessops or Boots for instance, the cost for 6x4" prints is 5p each - compare this to the 10p you pay per sheet of photo paper, without including the cost of the ink!
