Help please! Cancelling a hotel room

Hi everyone
We booked a hotel room for 2 nights (on a 2 nights for the price of 1 basis) for March 1st and 2nd, a couple of weeks ago.
Now, annoyingly, we can't go and the confirmation i got said that we can't get any of our money back if we cancel. Rather than a percentage deposit, we had to pay the full amount of £120 at the time, and this is what they will keep.
Im so annoyed because i am sure they will just re-let the room and get double their money.
I suppose they are allowed to do this?
Is there any way i can sell the room on Ebay?! It's just so horrible to lose £120 :-(

Hi
It was a Crowne Plaza hotel at the Birmingham NEC. They have a lowest internet rate guarantee. What are you thinking?0 -
could you sell it on to someone you know?'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0

I will try, but the NEC isn't very exotic! It's only because there's an athletics thing on that we wanted to go to.
I see someone is "selling" a room on Ebay but im not sure i feel comfortable with someone pretending to be me and when the hotel have my credit card details.
Might have to write it off and try and forget about it :-(0 -
if you cancel, yes they will resell that room to another booking. If its already paid for, and you arent going to get any money back....why tell them you are cancelling.
You may find someone that can use it in the meantime, or if not...and you just dont show up, it will be too late for them to resell....;)0 -
KM...can you not ask them atleast if you can change the name of the booking * say YOU can't use it but a "friend" can.
If they say, yes..Sell it on Ebay!!!
And regarding your c.card details..if they were to use for example room service they need to show the c.card at the time of check out or whatever.
*If you like the advice I give...let me know by clicking the THANKS button*

They will probably have a policy whereby you will need to check in by a certain time otherwise they will resell.
Thats how a lot of them work. Thats how we used to work.....unless someone were to telephone and let us know that they would be late.0 -

If they resell the room you might be entitled to some of your money back as you have given them plenty of notice......hotels can't just make double the money just because you cancel.
Did you have any travel insurance?0
