Flights to Peru

Hi all,
I'm planning to go to Peru to volunteer with street children around June, July time and was researching flights. Am I right in thinking that if I book now then it would be cheaper? I've just been on Opodo and the cheapest they've quoted me is £1300!
I was hoping to get it for way less than this about £500- 600 is my budget. Is this realistic?
Also what's the deal with an open return as I don't have a specific return date but hope to stay out there for 6 to 7 months. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Trailfinders have flights with Iberia from £6560

Not long back from Peru............. only paid about £700 to go via America (free stopover both ways in New York) as the timings from Scotland via Madrid and onto Lima would have meant I had to overnight in Madrid.
Which part of Peru are you going to ?
I booked through Trailfinders.
Peru is WONDERFUL you are going to have the time of your life as the people, the food and the culture is fantastic.****************************0 -
Try Journey Latin America - they are on St Annes Square, Manchester - very good and will work you out a good price and even arrange to have someone meet you and take you to where you are going.

KLM via Amsterdam to Lima can be competitive depending on time of year.
Good luck and I am sure you will have a great time!
Cheers

have you thought about flying to another south american city such as Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and flying onwards from there. I went to do some voluteer work there last year as part of my uni course and flights to rio with air france are approx £600 depending on when you go obviously. I dont know about now but i found the budget flights around south america to be great value so why not combine a money saving detour with a few more visits to places on the way. I love Rio!
Boa viagem!0 -
Expedia have some quotes for £700. We also went with KLM. Peru is fantastic place. I'd go back again if there weren't so many other places to see in South America.0

Last time I looked, flights within South America were VERY expensive. And in general, splitting a journey over several different tickets is a good way to waste money.
However, an air-pass, sold together with a ticket to the cheapest possible destination in South America, might be a good solution.0 -
Journey Latin America are good, and you can buy air tickets from their web site. Their meet-and-greet service costs extra, and since you are going to work with an organisation presumably they will be meeting you anyway.
A good way to make that journey is on Avianca, with a change of 'planes in Bogota. Avianca is my favourite airline, partly because they give lots of leg-room in economy.0
