As long as you can prove delivery - any method is fine.

As stated , recorded is hit and miss - but as a general rule - if it does not fit through the letter box - there is an improved chance of a signature with signed for (recorded) , as they have to knock anyway.

But many postmen will just shove recorded items though the letterbox without a signature, if they fit.
