To my way of thinking its not worth spending your money on a PC/Laptop til after Vista is launched next as i believe the machines with XP pre-loaded will be cheaper after it is.
I could be wrong but its worth waiting a week IMHO

So this is a "quick! don't grabbit while you can".0

All depends on whether you class Vista as an improvement over XP. If you just have to have the latest OS then sure, wait a week.
For my money I would stick with XP for now...doesn't always pay to be the first on the bandwagon.0 -
If you look on Microsoft website, you can upgrade to Vista free of charge if you purchase a laptop/pc between October and now.
They are also doing this with Microsoft Office 2007 as well0 -

Thats not what he's saying atall.
Basically he's saying once Vista is released Laptops and Pc's that are for sale with XP loaded rather than Vista will be cheaper, because a newer model is out.
Much in the same way that a newer model car being released will decrease the price of the older model ever if its new.
The capabilitis of Vista as on OS are redundant in this matter.Debt free thanks to MSE!

would wait 6 months til after vista is released as microsoft already working on service pack 1 due to tests from beta results last year.
first few months of vista is going to be a hackers paradise.
if yur pc aint broke don't fix it
may be cheap but you could pay for it in the short term
you need "authorised digitally signed drivers" from microsoft before your hardware works so no downloading 3rd party drivers anymore. (How many times have you loaded New Drivers for your hardware onto your current machine and seen "Certificate is not Digitally signed" Message and you have pressed continue anyway.
Be Warned, Hardware is out there to use with vista but 9 times out of 10 your current drivers and hardware will not work on vista.
don't get me wrong, im not saying vista is bad and you should not buy it, but i would wait until it has been out for a couple of months before purchasing0 -
It has worked fine for me for the past 2 months. And all my hardware has been fine too.0

From what I understand, you are partly correct...
Taken from Microsoft website
Q. Will Windows Vista allow unsigned drivers to be loaded?
A. It depends. 32-bit editions of Windows Vista will load unsigned drivers if you sign in with an account that has administrator permissions on the machine or use administrator credentials during driver installation. 64-bit versions of Windows Vista will require all kernel mode code to be digitally signed before it will load
Or has Microsoft changed their mind?
My feeling is that if you buy a system now, with a "Vista Ready" logo, you get a version of XP & you should also be able to get a free (P&P) or half price upgrade to Vista. One working OS and one to try later? He who knows all the answers has not yet been asked all the questions.0 -
Would personally wait at least 12 months after release to buy a new os from microsoft. Need to give them time to iron out all of the major bugs (and there will be many).
I'm an MCSE so am speaking from experience. Dead right on the laptops though - I expect prices to drop after the vista launch.0
