I have my kitchen and bathroom on either side of my hallway.
I'm thinking of laying the same flooring in each of these rooms.
If anybody has any suggestions or inspiration for types of flooring I should consider it would be much appreciated!!
Thanks
SB

I have the same layout as you. For what it's worth, I'm going for satin porcelain tiles in the kitchen, as they are hard wearing, satin ceramic tiles in the bathroom and carpet elsewhere. I like carpet, it feels warm and looks nice, but it's such a personal choice. You might think my taste stinks!

Thanks Leif....my idea of having the rooms with the same flooring comes from a book I read that said it would make the place feel bigger. Currently I have carpet in the hallway but it get's so dirty that a hard floor might be best.0 -

The book might be right, I don't know. But I do know that wall colour strongly influences perception of size. Darks walls shrink rooms, light ones expand them. It's weird. I am sure floor colour will have a similar influence.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Only masochists and cleaning fetishists put carpets in hallways,
3 suggestions:
1 If the floorboards are decent, sand and seal them. Job sorted.
2 Lay either a good quality waterproof laminate (e.g. Aqualok atB & Q or similar), or something like Amtico (not sure how this fares with high heels, though)http://www.amtico.com/pages/home.aspx
3 You could go for ceramic tiles, but that would make the hallway look rather like a Greek hotel. Plus, if laying ceramic tiles on a flexible base (e.g. floorboard), it can be tricky (unless you do it 100% correctly they may crack when walked on) and the special adhesive is extortionately expensive.0 -
We had cork tiles in the kitchen in our previous house and I absolutely loved it. The floor was warm and softer than tiled, easy to clean and looked really lovely.
You can also have cork floor in bathroom, they do water and moisture resistant ones for bathrooms.Best wins ever:

Another vote for tiles from me. Cost you more initially to do it properly with the proper gear, but waterproof, easy to clean, and harder wearing than the alternatives.0
