:T I think the staff are great there, they are always lovely and polite and willing to help with any banking problems. They always talk to us like normal people :j

You've been lucky. 4 times they never returned my calls.
I'm still waiting for a reply to the 2nd copy of a letter sent to head of retail services trying to sort out a savings account they messed up.
That's been about 5 weeks.
I call them incompetent.0 -
They are friendly but many are incompetent - I have had no end of problems with Halifax, here are the worst:
- Last year they altered the address on my account back to an old one 'by mistake' and sent bank statements to that address which is unforgiveable as is it could have been an ex or someone unscupulous who could have used the details on them. Fortunately it wasn't, it was my mothers but yes she did open them and we had a big argument! I complained and they lost the complaint!
- I changed my name last year as I got married and they kept sending me 'new' cards with my old name still on - it took 3 visits to the branch and 3 phone calls to head office and 5 useless cards until I got one with my new name on.
- the worst of all (but not actually branch/customer services I admit) was year before last I noticed several cracks in the plaster downstairs in my house. After a visit from someone appointed by Halifax Insurance they confirmed it was sulphation - a condition which occurs in houses built in the early 1980's or before, the concrete under the house can swell if there is moisture present and its is major work to sort it out, all the hardcore under the house has to be removed and replaced. Halifax Insurance refused to pay for it. After months of stress, worry etc we had the £22,000 bill paid for by Halifax Surveyors department as they had done a survey when I moved in and completely missed the problem. We had to move out for 6 weeks and it was an absolute nightmare.
Needless to say I do not have a good word to say about the Halifax - any department!:mad:0
