Those with a Nationwide Mortgage and linked Insurance

Dear All
When I got my mortgage with Nationwide in 2004, I took their Buildings and Contents Insurance which was very reasonable. The B & C Insurance were linked to the mortgage and formed one direct debit payment with the mortgage.
However, I have just been looking again and it would seem I could save up to £100 with other suppliers.
I rang Nationwide and went through to their "Cancel Insurance" department that I am sure you all know are really, customer retention teams.
They advised me that they could separate the mortgage and insurance products and potentially give me a saving.
My B&C Insurance was £444 a year. However, a new quote (to be honest, with much better terms as well) is now only £283 a year. Saving more than a third on what I was normally paying. The only difference is that I will have one payment for my mortgage and one payment for insurance.
Obviously, there might still be better quotes out there but, if like me, you are happy with Nationwide and what you are getting, this might be useful.
Perhaps others with insurance linked to their mortgage would also benefit from this. Nationwide did not tell me about it but I understand you have been able to do this since July 06.
I hope you find this useful
