Skycard - warning!

Options
My partner got a skycard a few months ago with its special balance transfer deal.

once the 0% deal ended, they hiked the interest rate up from 16.9% to 24.9%. We then cancelled our sky subscription to save money each month and then a week later got a letter putting the interest rate up to 27.9%. Was this a coincidence or our punishment for not paying for the extra channels anymore?

Ridiculous and does not seem at all fair and reasonable?

what does anyone else think and has anyone else had this problem?

My promotional offer of 0% on balance transfers has just finished and I had a letter yesterday to advise that the standard rate is increasing to 19.95%. The cash rate is going up to 29.95% and the minimum monthly payment is increasing to 3.5% effective from 27th February 2007.

I don't know about cancelling your sky subscription having an effect on your rate, we have the full sky package currently.

  • My 12 months interest free promotional period runs out in July. Not sure what rate it will be then, but I'm just gonna cancel - it's certainly not the most competetive card on the market and I only wanted it for the 0% interest.

My 0% deal runs out in September.

I've managed to work it that my standing orders will pay off my balance nicely in September.

As already stated on this thread, when the introductory offer is over I'll be cancelling.

    I'm not Sky's greatest fan.

Update. THey tried to start charging me interest from last month (Feb) so I phoned up and they apologised and said that it would now run until September so instead of the original 12 montsh it will be 14 months interest free. Well worth the phone call.
