Hi Guys
I returned to my parked car today, to find a Red Coat / Traffic Warden printing a ticket and i assume we was going to proceed to attached it to my car, i got into the car and drove off.
Can i expect a fine in the post?
Is the fine £30 or more?
Many thanks

Fixed Penalties
Non-endorsable eg: parking offences - Fine £30.00
These notices are to be paid within 21 days, but if the driver was not seen by the issuing officer in person when the ticket was issued, the police will complete a search on the car registration and issue a Notice to the owner giving them a further 21 days to pay. You do not need to hand in your driving licence.

I know this doesn't help the OP but I didn't think red coats worked Sundays. With this is mind can anyone confirm what parking restrictions are in place on Sundays and/or Bank Holidays? I was in Belfast City Centre recently and saw cars parked on double yellow and other white lines. I gave up trying to find a space and ended up parking on a single yellow and wasn't sure if I'd 'get done'. There were loads of places I could have parked if there were no restrictions but then why were so many using the car parks if parking is so relaxed? Can anyone clarify for me please?0

I'v seen them giving people tickets in the past. They attach it to the car and then take a photo? must be to prove it was defo that car or something!! not sure if it still applies to you as the ticket was not on the car and the picture wouldn't have been taken! Fingers crossed you don't get one in the post0 -

Cheers Robin. I think next time I'm in Belfast I'll drive around and find a proper space and not take a risk. The document isn't idiot proofed for me but I think double yellows are a no-no as I've never noticed any 'seasonal restrictions'. Maybe someone that knows May Street better could clarify if it's ok to park there on double yellows or if the drivers were taking a chance with red coats not working.0 -
You can park on the single yellow lines on May Street on a Sunday but never on the double yellows (unless you have a disabled badge).
There were lots of cars getting ticketed on Upper Arthur Street on Saturday - who were parked in on-street parking bays. Police cones had been put out all along the street but people ignored them, parked and displayed their tickets from the meter.
I would imagine there would have been more parking restriction in place on Sunday for the EMAs and the red coats would undoubtedly having been getting double time for working on a Sunday!
I've been ticketed around there 3 times myself (paid one ticket and won an appeal on the other two). The red coats travel in packs and can normally be spotted frequenting local coffee shops!!
Fingers crossed you escaped a ticket. If you don't believe you were parked illegally be sure to check out the regulations as you may be able to appeal if you do get a ticket. Bear in mind that tickets are given around there for 'not parking wholly within a bay or space' or 'parking within Xm of a junction'. They'll find any reason to stick a ticket on your car.
I only wish they'd start ticketing the cars parked facing the wrong way on Montgomery Street - it's a one way street. I've yet to see a car ticketed for that offence. But next time I'm crossing the road and I almost get hit by one of the idiots I'll be sure to get the police involved. Rant over!!!Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -

Can u tell us, how did you appeal two tickets??
The first one was for 'not parking wholly within the bay or space'. I wasn't in a space, I was parked on street beside a parking bay but not restricting access to it.
The second one was when we had a pay and display ticket but when the OH closed the car door the ticket flipped upside down.
On each occasion I wrote them a nice letter and got a short letter back saying the ticket had been cancelled.
The second one was easy, we supplied a valid ticket, were most apologetic and were told to be more careful next time.
The first one was more tricky. I got a lot of advice online through another forum, can't remember exactly which one now but I can find out if anyone wants to know. I kept the letter to the point, stated facts, and explained why I believed I was not in contravention of the parking restriction. Stupidly my husband parked in exactly the same spot a few weeks later and got another ticket for a different offence. That is the ticket we had to pay!
Am I right in saying you were parked on double yellow lines? If so, you'll need to wait to see if you get a ticket (it can take as long as 3 weeks) and see what code is listed. Then you can see if you can find any way around it.Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -
I was parked inside bay but i must have been there longer that i should, i returned to car to find the guy printing ticket on his little printer attached to his waist and had the sticky pouch thingie in his hand, i made small talk while getting into car, he looked at his watch and noted something on the ticket (still in printer) while i drove off...........................
Dont ask what the small talk was0 -
Check out the consumer action group forum. The have a dedicated section on parking tickets. I think you might just get away with this one. I think the Red Coats have to physically put it on your car to be valid whereas a police office doesn't have to.0
