The kindle (keyboard version aka K3) has a very basic "experimental" browser, it's rather slow and clunky though and obviously in shades of grey. If you're primarily after a proper ebook reader that can access the net then that should be ok.Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Lots of cheap android tablets doing the rounds, for net, email and facebook theyre easily on par with the iPad, however choose wisely to avoid the really 'plasticy' ones.
Look for: Capacitive touchscreen, at least 512mb ram and at least 1gb storage (with microsd slot) or 8gb without. Try and aim for android version 2.0 or greater.
Avoid: brands you don't recognise, resistive screen, anything with a screen size below 7"
Personally, I like Archos tabs (like this) and if you shop around you can get em for around £100P.I.C.N.I.C problem: Problem In Chair, Not In Computer0 -
That Archos model is apparently on sale at HMV for £129 - grab 'em quick!
Alternatively the new Kindle Fire is released in a week, but Archos is probs a better spec. I'm trying to weigh up the same thing myself.0 -
The Kindle Fire is released in the US only... Amazon UK doesn't have the cloud services in place... Ok, so it probably won't be long until there's root for it, but...Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Yes. Either through WiFi at home, WiFi hotspots, OR you can tether your mobile phone to it and piggyback your phone’s 3G which is pretty nifty (needs 3.5G) OR you can get a MiFi from 3 which are also pretty nifty gadgets for when you’re out and about.fly_dragon_fly wrote: »is the Samsung Galaxy S Wi-Fi 5.0 Tab, Android any good?

Thanks for the top info, and the galexy according to the samsung website says " The Android-based Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 is a massive media player or a small tablet, depending on your point of view. It could prove to be an affordable and slick alternative to the iPod touch." so i'm not sure
Can you tell i don't have a mobile phone or anything to do with the latest things! x0
