0% ended after 1 month.. help

I took out a credit card for £7000 a year ago and transferred existing debt from another card to it. I have spent the last 12 months repaying £180 a month believing i was paying my debt off interest free.. unfortunately i used the card in the first month for a purchase that pushed it over the £7000 limit by £82 for just seven days before i put additional funds into the account. I had taken my 1st month repayment into account when calculating my available credit so i believed i had more available to me than i did. I have now belatedly realised of that of the £180 i am paying they are taking £112 in interest! This means that out of the £2160 i have paid i have only paid back £816.. the other £1344 is just interest. :(

I asume i broke the terms of contract by going over and so the 0% deal was invalidated?

Is there anything i can do to claw back any of the interest?

You can try grovelling to them vto see if they'll reinstate the offer, but they're under no obligation to do so.

you went over the limit so all you can do is ask very nicely for them to reinstate the offfer. Legally - they don't have to.

  • If its been such a long time, I doubt they will reinstate the offer. After all, they would have expected you to check your statements between now and then. I've heard of a few people who have had it reinstated just after its happened.

If you do ask, stay calm and accept it is your error. Shouting and getting angry and they will put the wall up.

Cant see you getting teh interest back though, even if you get the 0% re-instated.
