Halifax bank statement

Hi, Halifax are printing the 16 digit number from the front of my credit card onto my bank statements alongside the monthly DD payment I make to the credit card company, to me this does not seem very secure. They have only been doing this from September 2011. before September they only printed = (DD - Salisbury's M/Card). Am I over-reacting

I think it's because when you've set up the payment, the payment reference will usually be your customer account number (i.e. your card number) and when the payment is put through via Halifax, the number that appears on your statement isn't intentionally your card number, it is the payment reference number for the credit card company (and also for your records), only you will know that it represents your card number.

That said, any 16-digit number written next to a card company name will suggest it's the account number, so I understand your point. Very little can be done about it, except taking better care of your bank statements in future.

I'm also with Halifax and didn't notice this until reading your post. I keep my statements safe, so hopefully nobody will be getting hold of that info any time soon lol.
