Another NTL rant!!!!

I moved house on december 8th and called NTL over the weekend of 9th/10th to get my account switched to my new address.
After finding out that although there was a NTL phone line in the new house, it wasn't connected and I would have to get it reconnected, the earliest date available being 29th december
Obviously this was annoying but I wasn't prepared to pay £125 for a BT line.
Just over 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my phone isn't working. A quick call to NTL turned into 30 minutes only to be told that I had asked them to disconnect me. I did ask for disconnection, but at the address I used to live at.
For 2 weeks now, I've been calling NTL, getting told that it would be sorted within 24 hours and everything would be ok. I've also been told that I have to start a new account with them but I can't get connected till the end of february.
I've decided that I'm so angry that I don't want their service anymore and I'm going to BT.
What I need advice on is to my legal rights over their equipment. I have about 20 feet of cable to my pc and a NTL modem. I know that I do not own these and I don't want to either. Can I demand an engineer to come and remove these when I want and if they can't make that time, I'd like to threaten to burn them or something similar:eek:
Obviously I'm not going to burn them, I just want them to stop lying to me and either sort out my service or come and take it all away. How much notice do I need to give them to come and remove it all?

Roll up the cable and leave it in the corner of the room. It is best for you & NTL that you keep it - you might need it in the future.
NTL will probably not want to come and collect the modem. I have 3 at home myself (they send one everytime we upgrade or change supplier). They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
You will find loads of info and help on this website

many NTL workers post on there anonymously to help customers who are having problems with them.0 -
bit off the topic but still a rant about NTL......
We moved into a new house in August, the landlord had NTL cable TV, broadband and phone package but had cancelled and we joined with BT.
For 3 months we kept recieving phone calls from NTL. Each time it was a recorded message informing us 'I'm sorry no one is available to deal with your call at the moment.' This was despite the fact we had NEVER rung them and didn't need to!!!
It seems NTL have to be especaily trained to be as hopless as they are.0
