Shocking level of credit limit increase

Hi all

I have had a barclaycard initial for a couple of years always with a credit limit of £750....Never asked for a limit increase.

Just used it for internet food shopping and petrol etc...
Normally pay the whole lot off monthly but last couple of months have paid a couple of pounds interest as xmas presents build up.

Last friday got a letter from Barclaycard about my limit increase from £750 to £11500.....I nearly fell over.

I wonder what prompted this ? I know my CCJ fell off my credit file in june and now it is crystal clear...However that level of increase in a tru shoc

Darren

No harm in asking them to bring it back down to a reasonable level if it really is that shocking. ;)

agreed, if you have no plans in using all that limit ask for it to be reduced.
If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...
  • i just had an increase of over 40% in mine and that was just from querying a couple of things on my equifax credit file! still not trying to use it - want to pay it off if anything!

They meant to increase it to £1150, not £11500. You've been EXTREMELY lucky!

    That's what I thought!

It might be an in-putting error, which they will (or will not) notice, it might be just a typo in the notification letter. You better check your limit on-line, maybe it's there at a more reasonable £1150.
