I'm one very, very happy puppy!! The loan people have confirmed by phone today that my balance is £0.00 and told me to expect confirmation of my account's closure in 10-14 days!
It's of significant personal importance to me because I was made bankrupt in the past and I seriously did not want the loan but it was the only way I could get a car.
Briefly, life was getting sweet. I'd landed a well paid job, relationship was going ok so took a consolidating loan ........ and then life grabbed me by the ankles and shook me over and over. I ended up homeless days before starting the new job and all the upheavals put me on the dole! (You can guess the rest.) I was made bankrupt as the first plane struck the Twin Towers on 9/11 so any mention of it is a constant reminder of it even now.
I got back into working and was busy pulling life together again when my car packed up completely. Living in remote areas means I need transport, hence the need to take a loan out for a car 3 years ago. Then life bit me again! I was aware I needed an operation prior to taking the loan and knew the ppi wouldn't cover it and was busy budgetting for this. The op came far sooner than anticipated and that part of me was great as I recovered. However, I came out of it with a whole new set of problems that have evolved and developed over the years and I lost my job because of it all.
The PPI refused to pay anything (They wanted proof but what I've got doesn't show up on x-rays etc  and I'm only getting close to a full proper diagnosis now) so it's been a massive struggle to meet the payments with my sole income from state benefits. But I've done it with ALOT of help from this site!! :j My only regret is that I didn't find it sooner!
I've lurked for tips on so many threads and forums across the boards and I feel I owe deep gratitude to everyone who's hints tips and advice I've ever used. Huge thanks to Martin for starting this site in the first place! After being made bankrupt before, it was especially important to me to meet and make every installment due regardless of the circumstances I was in. It's boosted my self confidence, self worth and it's a huge sense of achievement I'm feeling and I wanna shout from the roof tops
