Have searched, but you can't search for numbers lol.
When is this going to become the norm? I take it all laptops that has built in wireless at the moment only cater for 802.11b/g so will require a card?
When is it likely b/g will be "out of date"?

I'd imagine it would be a while.
Most 11b/g is used for peeps connecting to the internet. Until the internet catches up to 54mb, I can't see why anyone would want to upgrade.
Some people who do hefty file transfers internally might go up to gigabit (or have already), but wouldn't imagine too many people would for a while.0 -
It will be a gradual changeover. I don't think there can be a specifically stated time when g will be outdated, especially considering how long g has been out and yet there are still new b devices. As idiophreak says, not really useful unless transferring between LAN devices and even then if you really need to transfer large files, you'd probably be better of with an ethernet solution anyway."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I see. So there isn't going to be much of a benefit for general internet use as such.
I suppose it will have advantages for things like wireless in-flight entertainment systems though? Where there are advantages of weight saving?0
