I dont think that its the one with an outside toilet.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • If you are in any way worried about the extra noise (more of a constant drone than anything) then try to sit as far in front of the engines as possible.
The sound isn't uncomfortable, just a bit annoying to some people.

I thought that I might want to do that, not so much from the noise point of view but not wanting to see the props through the window :o, but from the photos I've seen, nearly all the passenger windows seem to be to the rear of the engines/props.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

Just googled our flight to Paris next January and it appears the plane taking us is a turboprop (link). If it was a "normal" plane I'd be fine, but I'm having a full on BA Baracus moment now and am seriously contemplating cancelling. I can't even look at the photos of it, I'm absolutely terrified at the thought of getting on that thing.

Has anyone here had any experience of these types of aircraft. What are they like? How noisy are they?

I'm gutted to find this out, I really am. I'd never have booked the flight if I'd realise it was this thing taking us :(:(:(.

The first plane my wife went on was not wide enough to have two seats side by side on.

I think it had six seats staggerd.

Flew from Fairwood common and when it banked over Mumbles lighthouse I thought we were going to fall out.

    She loved it.

    Don't worry. You will be O K

I saw my brother off from Fairwood on a trip to London - frightened the life out of me and I was watching from the ground!! :rotfl::rotfl:

  • If you know the flight number then you may well be able to find out the seating configuration here:
    http://www.seatguru.com/
and you may get some suggestions as to the best place to sit.

Flew out of Cardiff once and the plane did a steep bank just after take off giving me a cracking (and unwanted!) view of the M4 below
In my, admittedly, very limited experience, turbo props don't do that. They are a much more gentle animal than a jet and I wouldn't mind having a bet that once you have flown in a turbo prop you will prefer them to jets.
On the other hand, going back to my first flight, we met another group of people in the airport bar in Bristol Airport and they were going to the same hotel as us, in Spain.
Our flight left an hour before theirs, but they were going by jet.
When we arrived at the hotel, guess who were already in the bar waiting for us.

I fly on turbo props upwards of 30 times a year. It's no big deal, Often I'm asleep before take off and am only woken by the landing. Sure they are a little noisy, but it doesn't keep me awake on the early flights.
  • Don't worry at all, turbo props don't crash very often
    (usually only once)
