Not a strictly 100% credit card question but here goes anyway.
I have a visa HSBC debit card and am about to purchase some flight tickets. I read somewhere that visa debit cards give you the same protection as visa credit cards in terms of airlines going bust. Is this true?

Not quite the same as S75 protection.
