Living Next to B&B

Simple question really, does anyone have any experience of living next to B&B?

For instance are there issues with noise compared to living next to a residential home. This is both for noise coming from the B&B and also the owners being more sensitive to noise coming from you because it's a business.

Any postive or negative experiences anyone could share would be great!

A been there done that for me, and had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Baring in mind the B&B had private parking at the rear, and was detached from us. The only negatve experience I ever had was a party in their garden which was rather noisey - but it was literally just the once.

On the plus side there's always somewhere for family and friends to stay!

There's B&Bs and B&Bs. It all depends on the clientele.

[I can't resist pointing out that the spacing between B&B and and and and and B&B is different from the spacing between B and & and & and B and B and & and & and B]

Twice I've lived near one. Both have potential for parking issues as where I live has predominantly on-street parking.

The first set of owners had a go at me when I had the temerity to park outside their house, said they had a legal right from the council to prevent anyone else parking there. When I pointed out it was a public highway and they were talking a load of rubbish they backed down but the parking continued to be difficult.

The second B&B is not far from the first but is in a residents' parking area. They send the cars to park in our street, which is not residents' parking, although there are plenty of designated residents' parking bays for them (which are never full). They just don't want the expense. I recognise the irony in my now complaining, boot on other foot etc, but they were granted their licence by the council after considering their impact on neighbours - including parking - and they now have reneged on their promises about their impact.

There were never any difficulties with late arrivals, noise etc as the B&B didn't seem to operate on that basis though.
  • I have family who used to live on the same street as a lower end B&B in Blackpool. They have had noise issues as the B&B's primary guests are stag and hen dos at the weekends with the associated noise and mess when coming in from a night out.

  • There are three B&Bs close to me, including one next door. I can't say that I ever really notice that they're not just your usual neighbours. They are quiet sort of establishments though, mostly walkers and birdwatchers - no stag/hen nights here.
    Whatever
  • As DVardy said: it all depends on the clientele. Some are normal B&Bs with transient guests and some are dumping-grounds of homeless families/ex-cons by the local authority. I think I'd prefer the !!!!ed-up stag and hen-dos as the racket would most likely only go on at weekends.
