Apologies if this is placed in the wrong area?

I am launching a Christmas Children's Festive Ebook next week - Quirky Claus (the paperback version was published a few years ago) but due to this format... I am having to rely on a website provider, who I have been with for 4 years! However, the problems are more apparent with this company now partly because time has been pressing, but also because I am having to rely on them more due to this being - as I said an Ebook, which requires links to the website for certain functions for instance.

Since this occurrance, I have been disappointed with the site and their management! As you can see by the list of issues below in smaller text?

But the bottom line is they promised, "we will give you full control to manage your site content when finished," and "if you do not have the time will 'always' happily assist you edit your site."

Nonetheless - then you get the "terms and conditions" which I have re-read from their site, but do not remember signing - and they state this...

By the way, I cannot afford to change site because it is a fixed template - you cannot take the design with you, so I would lose £500 not to mention the £12 per month I have paid over 4 years...

Can anyone help please, I mean seriously genuinely assist if you know of what you are speaking? I have countless tenancy problems over years because there are many people in positions who feel they can cut you short and do less than you deserve.

I am not a trouble causer - I just stick up for my rights, because your spiritual integrity and consequently your artistic integrity is lost without these...

Nevertheless, I do believe there are not enough people out there - prepared to start a rumpus and fight for what they believe in!!!

So any "genuine" help from anyone please...?

THE ISSUES OF CONCERN ARE STATED HERE:

There has been far too many times, when I have tried to make even simple adjustments, yet it has sent the pages completely askew.

It should not take hours, to create to simply upload a file and then for it not to work time and time again! Again I appreciate the help but do you understand how, when I had spent hours uploading to the site, only for even the simplest operation to go amiss – for instance when after again hours I had the images up – they then grouped together, and overlapped or appeared out of sequence.

Things have gotta change!

This is clearly a business to business arrangement.

You do not have to sign anything to have a binding agreement.
It could probably easily be argued that by using their service for over 4 years you have agreed to their terms.

You have posted on a Consumer Rights board.

Probably better if this query was on the Small Business board.

I think you may be expecting too much from a small host whose bread and butter will be static small sites for local businesses. If the hosting is business-critical, you need to review your hosting options - at a price.

A midway option could be to host the large deliverable files on a CDN back-end, then let your host just do the simple stuff?

  • there seems to be a considerable amount of biased on behalf of business here.

Time and again, I have also unfortunately encountered people who are somewhat resentful of those who are creative.

The bottom line is, I came to this board for help, and someone saying your !!!!!!ed... is far from that!

You came here for help and in the end criticised a forum member who infact made some valid points. This kind of behaviour doesn't really make people want to help you.

Mr White, why haven't you posted your query on the Small Business board?

I thought that was a constructive suggestion, but...

Maybe they are too busy being creative at the moment?

I agree with the OP'er, I tried telling the council the same thing, I could not pay the rent and council tax
because i was busy being creative. They were a burdon to me. Stifling my creativity.

Commented on the car i said its not a car its my work of art a real masterpiece. They just commented on
the bailiffs would value the masterpiece by how many beer cans they could make out of it.

Creativity stifled and downtrodden, Sold masterpiece and paid bills.

Cheaper creativity = web design... I had the same problem with text and pictures losing formatting and
    overlapping each other.
I tried phoning the council to blame them because they had trodden me down and stifled my creativity.
    they disagreed.

Some would say its because i am useless at web design.

They could be right i guess.

Power to the people comrades. :)
