Save the Dates....?

I did my save the dates myself and it was ridiculously easy.
I "designed" a label - just a couple of clipart images (in b&w) and the wording we wanted, printed a load onto labels (6 per sheet) and then stuck them onto postcards (hobbycraft kids section). Then mailmerged the addresses, second class stamps, and off they went.
We sent them about 13 months in advance (we're getting married next September and have a lot of friends/family who book holiday for when the kids have gone back to school and wanted to catch them before they booked next year's) and overall it cost less than £50 (including stamps) for about 100 guests. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

One of my sisters did save the dates as she was getting married in December and wanted to make sure that the people she wanted there weren't booked up with Christmas parties etc. My mum made them the same as the rest of the wedding stationery (she's really good at making cards) and I think they were about £20 for the materials. The other sister got married in early March and didn't bother with save the dates. I personally don't think they're needed unless your wedding is at a busy time of the year (eg around Christmas/Easter/school holidays), but to each their own.
I'm not sure I'd send them with Christmas cards though as they may get lost with the Christmas post - maybe ring the people you really want there to let them know and then send out the save the dates in the new year?"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
We did magnets.
Got married in April 2011 and sent the save the date in about April 2010. We sent in advance (to the day guests) as our wedding was neon a bank hol weekend. (and also ended up being a double bank hol because of the royal wedding being the day before) so was a good job we pre-warned people!:heart2: Got Married on 30/4/11 :heart2:
