I'm not sure DS2 and DS3 ever got one of these, must ask and suggest they put their GCSE and A level certificates in there for safe keeping.

DS1 had one, with a report from most teachers, except NOTHING for Maths! When I queried this, it was because they'd had a change of teacher in year 11, and she didn't feel she knew them well enough to prepare one. Plus she said as he was staying on at school it really didn't matter. Struck me then it was a total waste of time / space / paper.

As I recall, mine was a selection of statements chosen from a choice of three or four standard comments, and therefore next to useless in terms of actually providing individual information about me! I had actually forgotten about the whole thing until I saw this thread and can't remember ever using mine, even when I was applying for job straight out of school.

I kept mine because I used it to keep all my GCSE and a level certificates in. You should make sure you keep these, there have been quite a few posts on this board with employers requesting them and the person not knowing where they are.
  • I've never used mine, but kept it because all exam certificates are put in there, plus any other training certificates. Other than that the statements from teachers seem a bit pointless after 10 yrs.

I've never heard of it - I'm assuming they weren't around in the 70s.
  • Never used, finished A Levels in 2000 but it sits happily at the bottom of my filing cabinet with my exam certs, again never had to show these, or my degree but at least they are somewhere safe.

Correct assumption. NRAs were launched in 1991. The last were issued in about school year 2003-04.

    Their replacements were Progress Files.
