Any washing machine that washes at 50C?

Options
Hi

I wonder if anyone knows which make and model washing machines can wash at 50C. I after something mid-range, something like Bosch or Siemens, with a budget up to £500. I've looked at all the specs and it seems washing machines only wash at 60, 40 and 30.

  • Hi I can't afford £1000 but out out interest which Miele model was it. Just in case I can justify the cost of a Miele to DH.

I'm not sure about the reliability of Hotpoint. Heard some real horror stories.

I'm pretty sure my bosch can do 50deg. It's an Exxcel 7kg one from about 18 months ago. It has a dial on the right, and an LCD display in the middle with touch-sensitive buttons. Once you select a programme on the dial, you can tweak the particular elements of the programme as you wish - and 50deg is one of those tweaks.

    A bit like this one.

You do realise lots of them will be old models which you won't be able to get any more?

You are better of getting the brand names and having a look in well known electrical stores or the household appliance department of well known department stores. Though I think at the latter you would get more useful help.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

Similar to Yorkie1: my Bosch Exxcel allows you to specify 50 degrees too:

Think I paid about £460 but that was a while ago now.

Out of interest, what's the reason, Mustard?

I understood 30º or 40º to be fine for most day-to-day washing, and if it's something that needs bugs killing (towels, bedding undies etc), 60º is necessary.

    What needs 50º specifically?

Supplementary question: just how accurate are these temperature settings anyway (ie if you set it for 50º, might the actual temperature be not much more than 40º or, equally, nearly 60º)??
