Removing Write Protect from an SD Card

Hello.

I was taking photos with my digital camera, I took out the SD card and put it into my laptop, then put it back into the camera. Now the camera says the card is locked.

Not sure how it locked itself, but I've done some Googling and have found that you just unlock the tab to get it back to normal. But I can't find the switch or tab, and being partially sighted I don't want to pull something else and break the card.

It's a MyMemory 1GB card, the cheapest one on the MyMemory website, and it's an SD card.

Stupid question, but could someone please advise on how precisely you unlock the card, and where this switch is (e.g on the same side as the cut-off corner, etc).

Thanks.
Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.

  • The SD card should have a slide like a floppy disc that is the lock, you push it the other way and the SD is unlocked.

Thanks, I ound it with my nail, I feel like such a clutz now - embarrassing even reading the original question. But maybe it might help others in the future.

Thanks again. However now the batteries have run out - looks like the photo shoot and hence the redecoration will have to wait (I wanted to do a before and after shoot to show the differences)

  • Dont worry about it. Its hard to see if you dont really know why its done what it has done. if you know what I mean.
