You can get the hotels cheaper than that! I paid £29/€44 euros a night for the 3 of us, including buffet breakfast. That's just under £10 per person.
www.villages-hotel.comIn a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Just a quick note for people who don't cross the channel as much as I do: SpeedFerries aren't boats in the traditional sense, they're those catermeran thingys, and tend to move around a lot more than the traditional cross channel ferry.
Nothing wrong with Speedferries' service, but, if you're as susceptible as I am to seasickness, I'd stick with SeaFrance/P&O etc!
I'm not having a go at Speedferries at all by the way, because their service is good and has put a cat amongst the pigeons.0 -
Mmmmmmm haven't used Speedferries before so thanks for your comment biscuit. Was looking to take our dog with us but wonder how choppy it would be for her:(. So much cheaper than Eurotunnel though
- shall have to have a think.

Its worth the trip into Belgium to get your fags/tobacco... much, much cheaper than France. Its just under an hour to get to Addinkerke
Below are some price examples.

Tesco have a good booze shop in Citeeurope, you can download a price list here.... and see how much you will be saving

Slightly OT, but if you like to 'Booze cruise', I wouldn't bother with the Calias wine warehouses aimed at the British tourist trade (clue - they display thier prices in £ and euros). Istead, in Calais I would go to Continent and if you can find one (and I haven't looked in Calais) Ed's, both national French Supermarket chains. They cater for locals, and the price reflects this. Of course, you won't find such vast quatities of booze as you would at Pidou ect, but we are talking moneysaving not bootlegging!"Excuse me, this expires today, will you be reducing it?"0 -

I think Continent have been bought out by Carrefour. My experience in Calais is that the smaller Carrefour on the other side of town from Cite Europe is way better than the CE one (which never has any stock in my experience). I believe this one was Continent previously (so I think your suggestion still holds), and you see far fewer English registrations in the car park...
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.0 -

What's the RAC euro upgrade about? Does this mean if you are an RAC member you get some kind of discount on travel/accommodation?The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -
I think it's for euro breakdown assistancePolitical?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0

Thankyou for this - I was anticipating this to be not valid for my circumstances as I have a fairly large motorhome - 2.85m high, 6.8m length, 3.35 tonnes - however by specifying 'large vehicle (Max 2.9high, 7.0m length 3.5 tonnes) I appear to just scrape in for the bargain return price of £59 (weekend return) - Just hope they actually let me on the ferry!!
Cheers for bring this to attention
