Best digital home phone?

Can anyone recommend a good home phone please. At the moment I've got a panasonic basic one which I've had for a couple of years but people have told me my voice is indistinct or that it's a poor line so many times that I have to do something about it. I don't have that problem when I swap for my old 'plug in' phone. I live in a very old house with thick stone walls (2ft) between the rooms but even in the room where the base unit is, people still sometimes have problems hearing me clearly.

The only bells and whistles I want are caller display and handsfree, otherwise no gizmos required - as long as the signal between the base unit and the phone is as strong as possible. I wish I could use just my mobile but unfortunately the signal is virtually non existent inside my house.

I've looked at the reviews on Argos but would be grateful for any advice from someone who has experienced the same. Thanks, Liz

Before you believe what other people tell you - check it out yourself! Call your own voicemail and leave a message then listen to the playback. There may be an interference issue at your end, OR theirs - sao there's little point going to additional expense if the cause has notihng to do with you. Incidentally, all phoned connect to your analogue line, any digitisation is done at the exchange, there have been no analogue (non DECT handsets) relating to the radio transmission for over 10 years now, but it still is analogue as far as your phone line is concerned!
