Thunderbird account set-up issue

Hi All

firstly, apologies if this is the wrong forum (mods please feel free to move it if required).

I have just downloaded and installed Thunderbird rather than regularly accessing online email accounts in the hope of reducing the overall time spent checking mails.

Anyway, I seem to have fallen @ the first hurdle!!!

I thought I would start with my orange account (my email format is:
xxx@xxx.fsnet.co.uk), however cannot get the incoming / outgoing format correct.

I have tried both pop and imap beginnings coupled with various other parts of my email address (from pop.xxx.fsnet.co.uk to mail.fsnet.co.uk) with no success:mad:

Anyone care to enlighten me as to how foolish I have been (and what the correct format should actually be)?

TIA

Sometimes I wonder...
"why is that frisbee getting bigger?"
...and then it hits me

I found this page which may help you, in particular the post by Rod Whitely. A later post said that he had cured the problem by not checking the STMP box.

  • Try something like this...

    Account Name: mail.fsnet.co.uk
    Outgoing Server: relay.fsnet.co.uk

    Server Name: mail.fsnet.co.uk
Username: xxx+username (xxx being the sub-domain)

Also, it may be a different top level domain is required (.net instead of .co.uk etc)
