XP SP3. I was using this and getting a lot of lock ups. Click on start or an icon and nothing. So decided I would fork out and get Windows 7. Great, easy install yet still after a while getting the same problem.

HD is fine. Memory checks out well. New mouse. Run out of ideas. Thanks in advance.

Been booted up long enough to write this. Just clicked on start and again nothing is happening.

  • Eliminating the obvious: have you tried plugging the mouse into a different socket?

By jingo sir. It looks like it may have done the trick. Ta very much.
  • I would suggest that you look into your graphics card and nice again check the S.M.A.R.T. status of your disk drive it sounds like R/W errors or a lack of memory to the point if your page file isn't big enough(but windows should be handling this)
